Hi.
I'm trying to do the same thing with the Hawker Typhoon from FH.
If I understand correct you can change / force the material number when exporting the mesh from GMax.
But I must be doing it wrong. I get an error every time I try do export the mesh into the map again.
"error! No meshes set up to export".
And it seems I can't "add LOD" either.

If you use 3DS Max 5, 6, or 7, I can help you. I cannot help you if you use GMax because I have never used or even seen that program before. Maybe ApacheThunder or fo0k can help? Or someone with GMax experience?

I solved the problem how to save and so one, only took me a while to figure it out.
I use Gmax, because it was the fastest to get hold of, though from different tutorials it seems that gmax is very similare to 3DsMax.
So now I have to know, what material number should I use before exporting.
And wich mesh is it I want to change? Is it the visual mesh?
I tried different random ways, but sometimes the plane can fly trough the ground and other objects, or/and I mess upp the texture totally hehe.
Am I right when I think the material numbers in Gmax doesent correspond to BF1942?

You can use this page to figure out which materal IDs to use. THe link was posted earlier here, but I'll put it up again.

Ah yes allready seen that, but thanks anyway. My problem is to figure out How to do it in Gmax.
Cant figure out how to see and set up the material number in the material editor.
When I export the model again however, I can chose to "force" a material number. But every time I try that the plane gets untouchable and can fly trough things ingame. So I guess Im doing it wrong;).

But of course when it came to changing the material numbers it looks a bit different in Gmax:(.
My first try resulted in the same results as last. Messed up textures and could fly trough things.
Have one idea more to try, will be back here later.

It seems Gmax can't do this properly.
where you could set material numbers I have only: "ID:" field and "Select By ID" button.
And it seems that it doesent work the same way as in 3ds max 7.
Maybe you could help me with it If I send the files?
because its for use in normal BF1942 maps, I have set up weapons and physics so the Typhoon fits the vanilla BF1942 better.
Instead for the Forgotten hopes version with 20mm cannon, I have put normal spitefire guns on it, though it have two more.
The rockets have more gravity then the flettner rockets, because its for ground targets only.( would be to superior to use them for dogfight).
Its a little bit faster then the mustang ( I think), but have a bigger turn radius.

I'll download the files, but the only thing that needs collision mesh[es] is the fuselage. The rudders, missiles, wheels [maybe], prop, all don't need collision physics.
