Does BF Vietnam bring anything new to BF42 for modders?

Post by Ruuga »

So I really like to mod BF42 and I wonder if Vietnam brings more "freedom" to modding.
I've watched some gameplay videos of Vietnam and I've seen that the spawn interface is kinda different. There you seem to be able to choose alternative weapons and stuff. Can you explain the differences of the spawn interface for me with little more detail?

I know that BF Vietnam costs only around 10-15 euros (in here Finland where I've spotted it in couple of stores) but I'm really broke and I can't just spend my money to anything.

And even if the game brings more content and moddable features, does anyone even have this game? I don't mind if not so many people play my mods because I really like making them but it would be nice to know.

I haven't been heavy in modding Vietnam yet. (I have only CON edited BF42 XD) But I think it has some improvements, like supporting more flora and winches for vehicle transport via helicopter. The kit system was improved so that hand weapons don't have item index IDs, but go in order they are added to the kit. Makes it easier for custom kits.

There is also the heatseeking missile that searches for the nearest manned pco in it's field of view, an AP mine code that make projectiles explode near players, helicopter ground dust, a code that enables players to convert PCOs to ammo, the music player, the ability to shoot kit weapons from vehicle seats, a new reloading code to save remaining clip rounds (used in the shotgun) and the artificial horizon thing for planes.

Think those are the main features :)

the MDT site has all the commands from 1942 and Nam.

I can't believe I wrote sticky particles. I meant sticky projectiles! It works in BF1942 too, but makes the servers crash in online play.
