Is there a way to convert the .sm and .rs to 3ds so I can edit the models?

I actually don't think there is, but luckily, I got Windows XP installed in VirtualBox (an old CD with e genuine key that we purchased with a PC back in 2002) so I can export models to .3ds for you if you want to :D (using 3ds Max 6).

Its the USS Essex on the BG42 mod. The got the ship's hull number wrong and it needs to be re scaled and the super structure needs to be reworked.

Seabee, are you using 3dsmax? (might be a silly question..)

If you install the Mod Dev Toolkit (here) then you can import the sm... and, well from 3dsmax do anything you want i guess.

You might want to grab the 3DS Max 7 program if you're planning on doing 3D modeling work for BF'42.
