I've been thinking instead of a landing gear just put a solid axle attached the bottom front part of the hull and put yours rollable wheels on the axle. Like this (I colored the wheels in photoshop so they are easier to see with the model and the way I did the back and foreground to make it look like it was moving.) 
Like I said if you hit the ground in reverse you would need a powered set of wheels on the back and some type of safety code on it so someone didn't make it an amphib. Ship.
