Editor 42 Keeps craching....Why?

Post by Flam1ng Dem0n »

I have recently got into the modding business of Battlefield 1942 and have download the Editor 42 program from this website. But when i attempt to open it, it gives me the dreaded "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send Error Report" error. This seems to happen any and every time i try to open the .exe, anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey there,

so this error / crash.. When does it happen? As soon as you run the exe? Does anything show up at all?

What are the basics of your pc? CPU gfx etc

Also, what OS do you run it on (XP, Vista, 7, x86/x64)?

I am currently running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3. I have 1.37GB of RAM. A AMD Turion 64 Mobile with 1.80GHz. The Laptop is made by Acer and is a Aspire 5000. I hope this helps. Let me know what is the problem....and how to fix it.

Thank you

I hope this helps you out. Let me know if you know what the problem is.

Thanks

Also one more thing...The only window that appears when i try to open Editor 42....is the intro Window. This is the only window that opens that is related to the program. The other window that opens is the "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send Error Report" error window. That's all i know, thus all i can tell you. Let me know if you have a fix for this problem i seem to be having.

Thanks

Try uninstalling it, installing it, then check off "run as an administrator" [right-click icon, Properties]
Then, run it in compatibility mode for Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.

Run program.

See if program still poops all over your computer.

[I use Windows 007, so I forgot how XP works.]

Ok, so you get the intro screen.

Can you try and manually edit the paths in the init.con (in the ed42 folder)

This bit:

Code: Select all

rem --
editor.path.game --
editor.path.base D:\bfdev\
editor.path.level $basePath\bf1942\levels\
editor.path.object $basePath\objects\
editor.path.texture $basePath\texture\
editor.path.standardMesh $basePath\standardmesh\
editor.path.tool $editorPath\tools\
rem --
Just change the D:\bfdev to the correct location of your extracted bf1942 files :

Code: Select all

editor.path.base D:\bfdev
Let me know how that goes or if correct already.
