Re: Cloud system successfully revived!

I just noticed your additions to your above post, interesting. I think I am seeing what you mean and yea I can see what you mean by the extras to edges as your rotating a square over a square. Edit: I was also wondering if this grid (or a group of smaller ones) could have a plane or rocket motor add...

Re: Cloud system successfully revived!

Kewl stuff for sure. Yea I seem to remember a long time ago someone coming up with a "sort of rain" and remember 4c mentioning it. I will have to study what you have in the thread and learn about emitters and such. I have always been more into ai and mapping than effects modding. Mainly be...

Re: (Ed'42, BF SPC) Pathfinding texture not aligned

Check in the init/terrain.con file and see of they are using map offsets. Just set them to zero and your pathmap will align, then switch back again. Several mappers at DCX did that and I scolded them for it big time. I see no need myself for even using offsets and think it was originally a way to sa...

Re: BC'42: that Excavator

Sure no problem Swaffy, It was a kewl map wasn't it (in a weird way)? With a little work someone could do some interesting things with that truck. Your sudden interest prompted me to look and sure enough I found it along with three others by "DCM". I have along with DCM_Quarry, DCM_Operati...

Re: BC'42: that Excavator

I think Apache said it best in that it just represents a "construction theme" being it is a map editor that one "constructs" their map with. Actually a silly thread but it gives me a chance to mention that there was a mapping team, forget their or his name? I think it was DCMAPS ...

Re: Cloud system successfully revived!

I remember when BFV came out there were memory issues, meaning that the game required more memory to "run well" than most gamers had or could afford at the time. I imagine that was one more thing EA hard coded and modified to use as little memory as possible to make the game playable for m...

Re: 10 year old game - still attracting new modders...

Well howdy KMP and welcome. Glad to see another person interested in AI here. We have an active tread right now on the smallones and I am working on a tutorial on Strategic Areas and if I can finish it will post soon. I run Battlefieldsingleplayer.com but like hanging out over here too, many interes...

Re: Smallones

Wow, so you have talked to DACV recently? I thought he had retired long ago. We used to chat, mod, and pathmap while chatting for hour over Vent almost every night. Is his email the same? Send me a pm on this and lets compare notes. If your still into modding the old game and want to help me do thes...

Re: Smallones

you may consider restricting this thread to pathing and smallones, Yes your right and the reason is to see what it takes to explain it so almost anyone can understand, from an unambiguous narrative, and replicate then apply the knowledge in their own maps. If you start out on a topic and let it &qu...

OMG! I didn't know you were in the strike zone! Poompoom500, one of my main admins and news poster is in NJ and just got his power on too. My thoughts are with you, and remember I can understand, unlike the rest of the country, I am from the gulf coast where these storms are a threat every year. The...
