Railroad equipment and rolling stock in bf1942

Post by Diamondback »

Hi all. I am trying to make a custom map which uses drivable trains as the main vehicle for the Axis team.

I know that BF1942 has a lack of railway rolling stock (locomotives, freight cars, train signals and railroad crossing signals) but I know a few mods that have some nice meshes like BG42 (the BR52 DB Class locomotive) and FH (train station and railroad crossing signals). The main thing I'm looking for are railside speed signals and I can't seem to find them in any mod. Does anyone know of some mods that would have them?

Not sure, but couldn't you just model them yourself? This is a fairly easy object to knock out in a few minutes...

Making them from scratch would take too much time plus I'm not a modeller. Only solution is to port some models from Turbosquid or another model library.

Semaphores are already in BG42, so those don't need to be made.

I have searched a bit and found this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... Medium.jpg

These are position light signals, and they were first introduced on North American railways circa 1920 according to my research. I have no idea if these signals were used in Europe in WW2. Perhaps electric light signals were just starting to make an appearance on European railways in the 1930s-1940s, but I couldn't confirm that with my research.

EDIT:

These pictures were taken in Germany in WWII, I can confirm they used position light signals back then:

Picture 2: Another type of signal is shown here, consisting of alternating yellow and black squares (middle of the picture): https://wwiitracings.files.wordpress.co ... tation.jpg

ok, I've looked at the pics you posted and it's gonna be hard to model from them when there is so much that isn't shown...do you have any better pics for reference?

Ok, I did 2 standalone markers, plus I have the round and oval lightboards exported by themselves so you can add them to other statics. Let me know if these are ok...
