The News area on the homepage

Post by fo0k »

the news area at the top of the home page is useful.. but not really used much at the moment.

2 options for it.

1. Place a large erectile dysfunction advert banner in it

2. Promote community content better

I'm thinking we could use some 100X150 pixel 'mini icon banners' that would line up next to each other.. so there might be a link to the new MDT tools, some popular mods (DC / FH) and then links to bfmods community member mods.. (heroes / swaffys mod etc)

These could be changed around or ideally rotated automatically.

Is there a way to add a timer or a scrolling type deal that can switch through different links?

Yes, Swaffy, sure is possible.

As with everything, it's easy with a bit of Javascript:

I like the "promote important/cool stuff" idea. Btw. my MDT is in version 2.762.

I think what we need, pertaining to the server, is some active event organization.

Because to my eyes, there is simply no way the ''BF Mods'' server can maintain good traffic otherwise. Those events could be beta testing a new mod, or simply a gathering to play an old mod that hasn't seen active MP traffic in years, i.e. GC.
