well, I like the idea of big maps too. I lots of tactical things to do in that case. That is when you need lots of players, and some very good vehicles/weapons to do some work. Like the M8A1 Tank Destroyer, a 76mm gun on a M5 Stuart chassis. Made for hit-and-run type of attacks. Fast, hard to hit, and deadly.

I really like this idea. Like a US Boeing B-29 or a Japanese Kawanishi H6K4. And a sprite emitter effect can be added to the damage effects that emits a warning symbol and/or a warning sound that players can hear throughout the map.

"Warning, the Allied bomber is under attack!"
or a really big exclamation point (sprite) pops up above the bomber.

But how can the players become dependant on the bomber? I was thinking of a way spawners can be attached to the bomber but spawn objects/players at their main base (that way the spawners will disappear when the bomber dies). Unless there is a fighter spawner attached to the bomber, with players spawning into the fighter, and is attached high above the bomber using the "hold" code (but that means players spawning where the bomber is at).

Also, f00k, can you add the server's name to the front page? I couldn't find the server by searching the IP address, I found it by searching "bfmods".

Don't tell me it's budget hardware issue..? Because I've been rocking Win7 64-bit on a measly single core. For ages. Still goin strong and strong enough to push 25-40FPS in the genius 128_planes

What's a dora cannon ? lol

goood to hear thanks mista.. :)

with gameplay maybe do it as ctf. but spawn at opposing base, pick up flag straight away.. then jump in the planes and fly to the home base.. would be a nice bit of action half way between

Dora gun is a huge railway gun that uses 3 parallel rails because it is so big, and fires 30cm shells! 30 CENTIMETER SHELLS! It was a monster. speaking of that, the P.1500 Monster was gonna be that gun, on tank tracks.

updated this with a more stable version..

same thing but uses lower res heightmap.. Sounds bad?

Well, you just cant see the difference.. and it means view distance has now been extended to 20km
Certainly some were getting crashes but should be bullet proof now..

Planes need some TLC really.. Would be great if anyone would like to add to this map a bit. (new planes.. jets would be cool)

It's called 'BIG_MAP' for the moment

I have to say fo0k, beautiful map. Truly enjoyed flying around. You definitely need a jet, though, those props just aren't fast enough on that map. Also, the vanilla code won't even allow them to get enough altitude to fly over some of the mountains, I crashed several times trying :) I can send you the code for my Me262 if you'd like, it's not a modern plane, but a jet nonetheless...

heheh.. the planes just need time to get up there.. the mountain peaks are around 2500m and the planes will get up to 6000 if you leave them.. just take your time and you get great view up there. glad you enjoyed.. yeah does suit some DC jets really nd could be DC no fly zone on acid.. :D

It's not a big map... it's fo0king huge! It took me about 8 minutes to fly from one main base to the other
