I think all those mod teams are dead (the latest to die was the DC: Global Front team).

Instead of taking content from other mods, how about being creative and making everything from scratch?

Thanks for reply.
I have little knolage of modding and not much time to learne it also i have language problame and have to translate many text files. Many weeks left just to test some tanks, which were copy from this mods. If someone with normal knolage of modding want to do the same i think he will spend max. month to comlete all the work.
The idea is simple - take many tanks , planes , helli and sort them to sides -usa , gb, china , russia, iraq, mec ,eu ore NATO ,chechen rebels and terrorists. Also make interest planes like b52 (who dare wins),b2 (nightfighters),tu22m (poe)

These days... my view is take and use all existing assets you can - whilst giving credit where due..

The worst that would happen is someone asking you to remove their asset from your mod... chances of that happening.. must be less than zero.

amirite?

Sadly yes. I wish I could find something as easy to mod as BF 1942, where the code is literally English.
*ahem* Just Cause 2, random numbers everywhere!

My mod uses content from quite a few other mods. But I edit the heck out of them so that they aren't exact copies, and I just naturally like customizing everthing to my liking.

My advice: Try to give credit where you can. And edit the vehicles so that they are at least somewhat different than the original, while still giving credit to whoever made the original.

fook has it right. Do whatever you want, nobody cares about their ancient BF42 stuff anymore.

Giving credits is proper etiquette, that should be done whenever possible.

So what if I take some models and textures from BG42 and put them in my mod? :D

Don't rip models, textures and sounds from other mods! The models used in the big name mods were probably bought before they were converted in 3ds Max/Gmax to SM/RS formats. It's not fair that you use those models for free in your mod, plus the original creators of the models (if they weren't bought) would not agree with it (unless you keep your mod for private use, not for public releases).

Also, the best mods out there (DC, GC, FH, etc) were successful because they were ORIGINAL. Original meshes, sounds, soldier voices, textures, maps, and so on. They didn't borrow anything from anywhere.

My point is, if you want to stand out and make a mod people will remember and want to play (because is it not what we all want as modders, to have mods people like and want to play, and mod further than us?) don't borrow stuff from other mods, unless it's just code.

Code can be borrowed and copied anywhere in BF1942, it's even in the EULA, so it's an exception.

I would say around 95% of my mod is built around models that I bought on the Internet, and most of these models have no copyright on them, meaning you may use them to your leisure as soon as you buy them. It might end up expensive, but hey all the content hasn't been used in BF1942.
