Converting BF2 heightmap to BF1942

Post by Jim2102 »

I am currently stuck on porting a BF2 heightmap for a BF1942 map. I had an idea to make a map using the terrain from the BF2 Special Forces map Devil's Perch as a template, but I can't seem to get it to work. I tried using the BGF Heightmap tool to resize the image for BF1942 map size. Didn't work. The terrain ingame either shows no terrain at all or only a small distorted portion of the heightmap. I tried bringing the heightmap into Photoshop, resizing, and saving from there. Still didn't work. Does anyone here have an idea on how to get this working properly? Thanks

For the sake of bumping your thread: I have no experience with BF2. Best of luck Sir!

I actually figured out this issue. Originally, I thought heightmaps were the same size as small, medium, large bf1942 maps:

Small: 1024
Medium: 2048
Large: 4096

However heightmaps go by these sizes:

Small: 128
Medium: 512
Large: 1024 (I'm guessing)

BF2 heightmaps are also not the same pixel size as BF1942 maps...they are 1 pxl bigger. A BF1942 map is 512x512, while a BF2 map is 513x513, and so on...
