Hey guys!

I am new here, and I am starting to mod my BF1942 (Origin version)

I just installed BFMDT, but when I start MOD WIZARD it reports:
---------------------------
Mod Wizard - Bf1942 / BfVietnam
---------------------------
No Battlefield Game was found.
Please install a Batttlefield game title and try again.
This application will now close.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

How to fix that?

Probably because it's looking for the game in /Program Files/ instead of /Program Files (x86)/.

Try moving the game to Program Files, installing the stuff, then moving it back.

I dont have as much time as I want for battlefield 1942 these days so I need to be productive, and have more efficient tools... anyway, I have modified the Battlecraft42 executable.. but only the Windows dialog resources, so NO new fancy features, only make most dialogs fit better with bigger screens. In other words, more information on the screen, bigger fields etc (if only I had the source code!).

The zip file contains the bc42m1.exe, I recommend you keep the old version and just update the shortcuts on your desktop/menu to point to the new executable. Keep both in the "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlecraft 1942" directory. If you use BattleCraft a lot then you will find that this one will save you some seconds here and there..

..and to stop that NOT-helpful "tips" dialog popping-up: Download this registry file and merge it!

(or manually edit: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Battlecraft1942\Show Tips"="0" if you know what you are doing!)

Battlecraft is probably the one tool that I have used the most but I run into a problem. On certain maps, usually desert ones, I just have a blank canvas instead of all the objects and textures. I can see some variation in the landscape, but I am unable to edit because nothing appears as it does on the other maps and the freelook just moves way too fast. Does anyone know of a solution for this or does this version of BC fix the issue?

Battlecraft has a limit of 2048 objects (View->Level statistics). The game engine can handle more than that, but in order to get more objects in the map you need to load more than one StaticObjects.con file (but Battlecraft only loads the main file, no way around it!)
If the objects are gone, or you only see some objects then most likely the map has been extracted and had its config files modified to load other files.. I usually modify StaticObjects.con file to include the other files: vegetation in one, buildings in another etc. So Battlecraft will not display any objects at all (I manually rename the different files to StaticObjects.con, rebuild, then modify in Battlecraft, and rename back etc.)

Another vote for modding tools. Ive loved this game since the iPhone release in the process of replaying it now, having the tools to create new levels would be awesome

I discovered this tool a couple of month back, and its really "bang on" and perfect for game development, and I use it for Battlefield map development.

This tool is awesome for anyone that is doing 3D models, textures, graphics and level/map building (pretty much everything except programming)! Anyway, the tool is a reference "thing", its a place holder for all images/photos that you would use as a reference to what you are trying to make!

In a nutshell its a keyboard shortcut pop-up with a screen where you can copy and paste any images, with endless size, zoom, position, and giant workbench size, and can be saved per project. It has no fancy gui, it was made with artist and reference in mind, but not as a primary tool but to support the tool you are already using (3D Max/Maya/Photoshop/Battlecraft etc).

Its free, got a tiny learning curve on the keyboard shortcuts. I used to copy and paste save images for inspiration into a seperate folder for that project, and look at that. But this thing is just another level above!!

Screenshot is copy and paste images from google image search of "related" stuff to my map idea, and screenshots from google earth for locations that I like, and the map I am working on.. basically the pureref screen helps me to reference the feel of things that I want, didnt mean to sound like an advertising poster, but I really like this tool..
