Gmax - bf mod tools settings

Post by ike »

Hi @ all,

i´m ike from the EoD mod.

im usually a mapper - but now im starting to create some static models. im working with 3Ds max 9, and there is no script for max 9 to run bftools...So i´ve installed Gmax, with the G max bf tools, to solve my problem.

Ones created some models and imported them into the mod you can´t make lightmaps and terrainshadows without a crash of BC42....

:?: What i´m doing wrong - wrong setting in the gmax tool?

Welcome to the forum ike. There is script for Max 9 you just need to install it manually. See http://bfmods.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=309
And thanks to senshi you can download the plugings for max here http://jg28senshi.jg.funpic.de/BFMDT%20files.rar

Not sure what the problem is with gmax I hardly ever use it.

Max tools simply don't work with Max 9 or newer without major modifications to them. Unless somone knows a version of the scripts that work in Max 9, then you have to get Max 8 or older.

Thx @ all for help,

i have got to run the scirpt manually and you can export the model - but one funktion dont work ,like the "Bsp".

http://s5.directupload.net/file/d/2178/jnf4udqm_jpg.htm

Bsp is activated but if you want to save the objekt there comes a message:

http://s3.directupload.net/file/d/2178/jt6kiipe_jpg.htm

but you can export it in to the .sm and .rs file.

Never seen that version of bf42 scripts? where did you find those? Also why did you have simple shader selected?

Also the makeBSP exe comes wth the MDT tools look in there for it. Just create the path the script is expecting and the BSP function should work again.

EDIT:

If you have the MDT version of the scripts installed you will find the missing exe you need in the bin folder of the bf1942 folder found inthe scripts folder of max. For example, in max 6 it is found here:

C:\3dsmax6\scripts\Battlefield Tools\bin

Replace 3dsmax6 with the path to your version of max

Simply recreate tmpmax folder on drive C and place the makeBSP.exe there. Then the script should work with BSP checked.

Kuyong_Chuin gave me the link to the download of max 9 script http://jg28senshi.jg.funpic.de/BFMDT%20files.rar

Now to the settings....yea, thats another question :) (hope its not offtopic)

after i have imported the statics into the BC42, i can´t make the lightmaping and terrainshadows for some objects...One object is ok another isn´t - whats the matter? i always use the same way to export... some one said i should make the uv map in chanel 3 - but sry im a beginner in modelling learning by doing :|

That's not the max 9 script. I downloaded it. It's identical to the standard MDT scripts which don't work in max 9.

I meant the scripts you used in the screenshots.

hmm i think this ist the same script i used for export...only i run it like this: MAXscript-->run script-->bfTool_maxZipScript.mzp (59.6 kb)
It works simply good

http://www.file-upload.net/download-256 ... t.mzp.html

PS.. any idea about the uvmap in chanel 3?

Oh I see. The mzp file that comes with the MDT must be a different set of tools? Never new that. :D
