you can try this

http://ax.sadman.net/files/bf1942_lnxde ... 612.tar.gz

it's unofficial, unsupported and many other un's
but seems to work fine (at least not worse than original 1.61)

It's a great work. Looked at the code changes you made. Very well done once again!
I believe we could wait till eternity for an official Linux server version v1.612, because EA doesn't care.

same as 1.61

you need

http://ftp.games.skynet.be/pub/misc/bf1 ... .6-rc2.run
http://ftp.games.skynet.be/pub/misc/bf1 ... .61.tar.gz

and then ovewrite the binaries with mine (you can probably even skip that 1.61 update)

A server version which allows 1.61(b) and 1.612 ppl play together with the advantage of 1.61 ( cd key for ranking) would be awesome.
Even if the 1.612 player would have a "fake" 23 digit serial they can setup in registry creating a 32 digit keyhash.

As long as server exe doesn t forward to http://motd.gamespy.com for validation check:

http://motd.gamespy.com/motd/vercheck.a ... yD.€yD.ÐyD.

everyone could play without valid key ( like 1.612 does, cause cd key is remmed out)

Your link doesn't work.

Well, my own admin tried to put all files on the dedicated box, but at least, error ; he told to me he didn't find this files for loading the server : "libncurses.so.5"

Code: Select all

http://motd.gamespy.com/motd/vercheck.asp?productid=%d&versionuniqueid=%s&distid=%d.ðoD.ÀoD..qD.0pD.ppD.€pD.àpD.àoD.`rD..yD.@yD.€yD.ÐyD.
thats the verifcation link INSIDE the bf ded exe 1.61 to gamespy !

take hex editor and search http:// , you ll find it.....

if you modify this link to

Code: Select all

http://motd.gay-spy.com/motd/vercheck.asp?productid=%d&versionuniqueid=%s&distid=%d.ðoD.ÀoD..qD.0pD.ppD.€pD.àpD.àoD.`rD..yD.@yD.€yD.ÐyD.

you can join server with 12345678901234567890123 serial in registry which is fake and NOT valid !

(Hkey local machine -> Software -> WoW6432 Node -> ELECTRONIC ARTS -> EA GAMES -> BATTLEFIELD 1942 -> ergc )

http://motd.gamespy.com/motd/vercheck.asp?productid= xxxxx + version xxxx + keyhash

check it out ;o)

Server exe modification this way disconnect the server from key verification from http://motd.gamespy.com, and makes it possible that ppl can play with faked serial ( the one which is missing inside 1.612 registry & disabled inside bf ded exe 1.612 ).

So in 1.612 you can reactivate it or simply modify the path links from 1.61 server exe to origin (U see inside 1.612 they took another root path.... origin/Bf1942 instead ea games/Bf1942)

1.612 gamer gets a faked cd key and ranking works, also ban system on key would be back (even everyone could modify the reg value to bypass this, but then he losses identity on that generated key + rank)
That would give 1.612 players same as 1.61 gamers have and there would be no difference anymore

Also Ea modified the dlls to bypass cd check, these dlls ( no CD version "crack") you can dl even over Toolbox.
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Mod.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\XPack1\Mod.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\XPack2\Mod.dll

They just did what BF 1942 gamer do since years......
