DayZ mod for ARMA2

Post by fo0k »

Have been playing this for the last couple of nights..

Gotta say it is v tough but easily the most realistic co-op survival / sim experience I have played yet. persistence across servers.. meaning that (assuming you didn't die..) you will spawn in the same spot as when you disconnected.

anyone else played?

Good stuff, but missing long-time motivation. I'm curious how War-Z will be in that regard. Probably a lot better, considering it's a full price title.

I'd say by definition its has long term incentive. I mean the idea is to stay alive as long as possible.. which is very hard to do, but increasingly rewarding when you do, especially through good co-op.

It's often 40,000 concurrent players rivals BF3 and COD... gotta say something for the motivation!

Not sure that vid does it much justice, freddy :)

Well, with long-term I mean replay value. You grab all the high-end gear and then it's pretty much "Now what...". You either start camping/hunting down other players or you just continue to roam through all the towns, but you are pretty much unstoppable once you figured out the zombies. The greatest thing is that you are pretty much required to work in teams, while simultaneously you can't trust anyone. Obviously this principle falters as an organized group of buddies (with voice) has a huge advantage over every individual player. But trying to find a group as a single player usually always leads to treachery and getting shot in the back sooner or later.
