A new patch was released just before Christmas so it might take a bit longer. On my connection it took maybe an hour to an hour and thirty minutes until it was finished.

My Internet is stupid. It took 12 hrs to get War thunder, and 36 hrs to get Lord of the Ring Online. Whatev at least I don't have to pay for it yet.

In the next few updates, World of Tanks is getting a graphical overhaul! The wheels will become independently suspended, instead of acting as one solid block, (jeez, even BF 1942 has individual wheels!) the game will become optimized, the tank models will be greatly improved, including much higher resolution textures, and hundreds of more polygons. And, the best part is, The game will be moving from the Bigworld engine, to the Havoc engine!

when? I have no idea.

right now, the graphics are really, average. I must say, the game was first made on the Bigworld engine years ago, and they have the game compete with the more modern games with the same out-dated engine!

I've already seen that. I think it's pretty good.

Oh, I forgot the link to the video. Look at how amazing the game looks when they show the beta with the Havok engine!

WoT BigWrld vs Havoc.JPG
On the left is Big World (now), on the right is Havoc (coming Soon™)
Now, I think that is pretty sweet!

I think World of Tanks and War Thunder are going to be one of those "play style preference" types of rivals. They are rivals, yes, but World of Tanks is more of an Arcade style of game whereas War Thunder is focusing more on realism.

What I like a lot about War Thunder is that it tries to stay fairly realistic but still has aspects that makes it a fun game. Like 3rd person views, mouse aim, etc. On top of that, a player can switch to full-blown realism if they want (1st person, full realistic controls). Sometimes I go into first person when flying just because it's a blast and a fun challenge to use the cockpit. The details are amazing too.

All the truth is in that statement. War Thunder is a friendly simulation, and WoT is a rather arcade loose simulation.

Now that is why the panzershreck could take out all our tanks, and why we could only blow tracks off theirs!
